About Rich

My interest in photography is based on wanting to share what I see. I look at everyday items and natural scenes— often parts of the world that may go unnoticed or that we may take for granted—and I try to capture the essence of these subjects in a way that will give pause and that will evoke an emotional response.

The essence may come from the light on a pear or from the texture of a shredded poster on a city wall. It may be found in the rhythm of a repetitive pattern of pipes, or in the depth of a pile of tomatoes. Open windows and doors suggest passages of time and life, and stark gray skies invite speculation about past and future

My photography consists of images from both 33mm film (B&W, transparencies and negatives) and digital files. I make minimal adjustments to files. What I see through the viewfinder is what you see in the final product.

I use a Canon EOS film body and a Canon EOS digital body. I make prints using archival inks on archival paper, and I do my own mounting and framing.
